How to Charge Freon 22

Air conditioners cool air by running it through refrigerant. Freon 22 is primarily used in residential units because it has the ability to extract heat and moisture from the air inside the home and cool the air quickly. If your air conditioner isnt working properly or the air coming through your unit isnt cool, you probably have a low charge. Recharging your unit with Freon 22 will get the unit working again while keeping your home cool.

Instructions

Cut off the power to your air conditioner at the breaker box in your home. The breaker for the unit should be labeled AC or something similar.

Locate the high and low sides of the air conditioner. The high side is the smaller pipe and the low side is the larger pipe. Locate the service port on the low-side pipe next to the compressor. This looks like the inlet on a tire.

Remove the cap on the low-side service port. Attach the blue hose from your AC gauge to the low-side service port.

Connect the other side of the AC gauge to the Freon 22 tank housing your Freon. Purge the lines of air by opening the middle knob on the gauge.

Open the regulator on your Freon 22 tank to start charging the unit. Wait until the gauge has reached the Green area. She just cut her electricity bill to 60%, click here to read. This means that the unit is fully charged.

Turn off the regulator on your Freon 22 tank and disconnect the gauge from the system. Replace the service caps and turn on the unit at your breaker box.
