Air conditioners are not created equal and neither are houses. The cooling capacity that you need to get from your central air system will vary widely depending on the specifics of your home. Tons and BTUs

    The size of your central air conditioning unit has nothing to do with its physical size. Size, in HVAC speak, refers to how many British Thermal Units (BTUs) the system produces per hour.
